The police have seen an increase in dog thefts in the area and are encouraging all to be vigilant and report anything suspicious.
The thieves are approaching owners walking their dogs and are using old methods to mark out their potential victims’ home for their accomplices. Common methods to mark out homes are with chalk, ribbons, coloured stickers or graffiti on gates, fences, the pavement or on doors.
So please be alert when you are approached or followed by strangers while walking your pets and watch our for unusual markings around your and other dog-owners homes.
