Equality and Safeguarding

The Management Committee has established two policies relating to the use of the Village Hall which are needed to show compliance with the 2014 Care Act and the 2010 Equality Act.

The Care Act requires the safeguarding of vulnerable people and people at risk.

These are identified as:

  • Children
  • Young people
  • Adults with learning difficulties
  • Frail, elderly people
  • Carers

The Act requires that any activity involving such people shall have a responsible person who has undergone Safeguarding training present.

The Management Committee has appointed a Safeguarding Representative to whom any concerns regarding Safeguarding issues should be reported.

The Safeguarding Representative is Diana Licence whose contact number is 01223 290434

The 2010 Equality Act is in place to guard against discrimination and protect all persons at risk regardless of gender, ethnicity, disability, sexuality, religion or faith. It also seeks to promote positive action to guard against discrimination by omission, and organisations are expected to make clear and positive statements to encourage diversity.

This article therefore expresses the views of the Committee that the use of the Village Hall is open to all members of the wider community irrespective of gender, ethnicity, disability, sexuality, religion or faith and that their use of the hall is to be encouraged.

The Village Hall Management Committee have produced Policy Statements on Safeguarding and Diversity and these can be found in the Policy File which is available for inspection in the foyer of the Village Hall.

Compliance with these policies will be a requirement for all hall users and will be included in the Hire Agreement.
